Collins Writing is a program that Mt. Healthy City has adopted to make sure that writing takes place in every class. In this program there are 5 types of writing.
Type 1 - This is a brainstorm. It's important to get ideas down on paper. There are no right or wrong answers. This will be graded with a check or minus depending on whether or not the student met the length requirements and stayed on topic.
Type 2 - This type of writing shows that the writer knows something about a topic or has thought about the topic. There is a correct answer to a specific question. It is graded as a quiz. There is only one draft.
Type 3 - This writing has substantive content and meets up to three specific standards call focus correction areas or FCA's. When the draft is complete, the student will read it aloud to themselves and make sure all FCA's are complete and simple mistakes are found and corrected. The corrections can be made on the draft. There is only one draft.
Type 4 - This type of writing is a type 3 that is read aloud and critiqued by another. There are two drafts.
Type 5 - This type of writing is of publishable quality. There are multiple drafts.
